1919 – 2003

NEW GLOUCESTER – George William Seidel Jr., 84, went home to be with the Lord Sept. 30.

Born in Shamokin, Pa., Sept. 19, 1919, the son of George W. and Carrie Holden Seidel Sr.

Mr. Seidel worked at Orangeburg Fibre in Orangeburg, N.Y., for 31 years. He worked at Pineland Center and C.M.M.C. after retiring he volunteered at Pineland Center and C.M.M.C. While living in New York Mr. Seidel was a Captain in the volunteer ambulance service. He loved hunting and fishing.

Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Florence; son, Jeffrey Seidel and wife Chris of New York; two daughters, Judith Capasso and husband Patrick of New York, Carol Seidel of New York; grandchildren, Marie Capasso, John Capasso and wife Shelly, Jennifer, Jamie, Jason, James Jr., Janine, and Jessica Seidel; great-grandaughter, Kristian Capasso; sisters and brothers, Earle Seidel, Ilah Downs, Pauline Coursin, Fay Kopenhaver, Elizabeth Van Cura, Isabelle Getz, Carol Sunday, Andrew Seidel.

Mr. Seidel was predeceased by a son, James R. Seidel Feb. 11, 1993; and one brother, Norman Seidel.
