FRYEBURG – Members of the Fryeburg Homemakers Extension will meet at the Legion Hall on Bradley Street on Wednesday, Oct. 8. Coffee and social time at 8:30 a.m. will be followed by a business meeting at 9 a.m.

The program will be “Porcelain Dolls,” presented by Arden Johnson. There will be a potluck luncheon served by the hostesses for the day, Arden Johnson and June Hubley. Coffee and dessert will follow.

New members and guests are welcome.

Park gathering

NORWAY – The Abused Women’s Advocacy Project is organizing a gathering honoring survivors of domestic violence at noon Wednesday, Oct. 8, in Witherall Park across from the library.

The Clothesline Project and the Maine Silent Witness Project will have displays and educational material with representatives present to discuss the issue.

Those wanting more information can call the project’s Norway office and ask for Carol Perkins at 743-5006.

Book discussion

WOODSTOCK – The Whitman Memorial Library book discussion group is featuring guest speaker Lenwood “Pete” Andrews at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9. He will be sharing memories and thoughts on the history of town. The public is invited.

WATERFORD – The Waterford Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Wilkins Community House in Waterford Flat. The program will be a presentation on Waterford businesses, past and present. Included will be segments on businesses operating in Waterford in the 1880s, 1950s and today. The program will be followed by a potluck dessert.

Blood drive

SOUTH PARIS – Logan Landry has organized an Eagle Scout blood drive from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Municipal Office, Main Street.
