PARIS – The fifth annual Aspire Higher Homecoming parade will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Oxford Hills Middle School and will end at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. One goal of the parade is to promote interest in post secondary education. The school district’s goal is to have 80 percent of students enrolled in a post secondary program by 2005. The Community Education Exchange is encouraging local businesses to support this goal. Screening clinic

LOVELL – Community Health Services will hold a free monthly health screening clinic from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the United Church of Christ.

Registered nurse Deb Kerr will run the clinic, which will offer blood pressure monitoring. She also will be available to answer questions.

No appointment is necessary.

Survivors honored

NORWAY – The Abused Women’s Advocacy Project will honor survivors of domestic violence at noon Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Witherall Park across from the Norway Memorial Library on Main Street. The Clothesline Project and the Maine Silent Witness Project will be on display, along with educational materials and people to talk about this important issue. Fair trade talk

NORWAY – A public interest forum on “Why the USA Exported 3 Million Jobs” and how Maine is affected will be presented by Matt Schlobohm, organizer of the Maine Fair Trade Campaign, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Norway Memorial Library on Main Street.

Schlobohm will be joined by a trade union member. There is no admission fee.
