TUCSON, Ariz. – Safari Club International, which protects the freedom to hunt and promotes wildlife conservation worldwide, announces that Joe Hosmer and his daughter, Brittany, of Durham, Maine, have been appointed to serve within the committee systems of SCI and its sister organization, the SCI Foundation, which funds and manages worldwide programs dedicated to wildlife conservation, outdoor education and humanitarian services.

The Hosmers bring years of work and dedication to their respective one-year positions as co-chairman of the SCI Long-Range Planning Committee and as a member of the SCI Foundation Humanitarian Services Committee respectively.

“The expertise and passion of SCI members are what make SCI such a powerful advocate for hunters and wildlife worldwide,” said Gary F. Bogner, president. “Joe and Brittany are outstanding leaders. I know they’ll help their committees make important advances to protect the freedom to hunt.”

As co-chairman, Joe Hosmer will help formalize the long-term goals and objectives for SCI and the foundation. While on humanitarian services, Brittany Hosmer will help ensure that the foundation’s humanitarian programs are well managed and well funded.

The 32nd annual SCI Hunters’ Convention will take place Jan. 21 to 24 in the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nev. Sportsmen and sportswomen interested in attending should call 888-746-9724 toll-free or visit www.showsci.org.

A few of the foundation’s groundbreaking humanitarian programs include Sportsmen Against Hunger, which annually provides more than 230 million meals of donated wild game meat to the hungry worldwide; Sensory Safari, which has enabled more than a million people – many possessing physical challenges – learn more about wildlife using touch and other senses; and Safari Care, an umbrella program that, among other things, encourages sportsmen to take needed medial equipment and supplies to remote regions of the world and fulfill the hunting dreams of people with terminal illnesses.
