NORWAY – Norway Downtown Revitalization invites area residents, property owners and businesspeople to a presentation and discussion about the future of Main Street at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15 in the multipurpose room of the Norway Memorial Library on Main Street.

Darcy Rollins, director of the Maine Downtown Center, will present the final report of June’s Resource Team Visit, which was coordinated by the center. Copies of the report will be made available at the library, the Norway Town Office, and the revitalization office.

Four downtown revitalization experts spent three days in Norway, meeting with dozens of downtown volunteers, area residents and businesspeople with a stake in the future of the commercial district.

The report includes their observations and recommendations for action. It covers four main areas, which correspond to the four points of the Main Street Approach to downtown revitalization: organization, promotion, design and economic restructuring.

This approach, promoted by the National Main Street Center of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, has proven valuable in hundreds of Main Street communities throughout the United States. Norway was designated a Main Street Maine community in the fall of 2002.

Norway Downtown Revitalization board and committee members will be on hand to talk about current and future projects. Refreshments will be served.
