AUBURN – Local author, Mary Callahan, will read from her controversial new book, “Memoirs of a Baby Stealer: Lessons I’ve Learned as a Foster Mother,” at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at the Auburn Public Library.
Published in April, Callahan’s book tells one woman’s experiences with the foster care system in Maine. The book has been making waves statewide as well as online.
Her book has been read by each member of the Advisory Council that will oversee the reorganization and unification of the state Department of Human Services and the Department of Behavioral and Developmental Services.
Callahan was featured last month in the Lewiston Sun Journal. She can be seen on Talk of the Nation, MAINEWATCH and Frontline, and has had opinion pieces published in nearly all of Maine’s major newspapers.
She will be available to sign her books. For more information, call the Auburn Public Library at 782-3191.
