BRIDGTON – The third annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, Oct. 11, will include sheep dog demonstrations, hay rides, pumpkin carving, old-fashioned children’s games, blacksmith shop, cooking, spinning and weaving demonstrations at Narramissic, the historic Peabody-Fitch Farm, Ingalls Road, South Bridgton. Events will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There will be guided tours to Bear Trap, hot dogs, drinks, snacks and ice cream available, and the historic farmhouse will offer tours with guides in period dress.

A public supper will begin at 5 p.m. in the barn featuring homebaked turkeys with all the fixings stuffing, gravy, corn, peas, squash, potatoes, homemade bread, coffee, punch and homemade pies. Two sittings of 100 each are planned this year as the supper sold out last year.

Admission to the day events is $5 a person with a maximum of $12 a family. Members and seniors are $4. This covers all events except snacks, pumpkins and supper.

Cost of the supper is $7 for adults, $4 for children under 10, and under 2, free.

The Bridgton Historical Society sponsors the event as well as others throughout the season to commemorate the bequest of Margaret Munroe, who wished to keep alive the old traditions of early settlers. Those wishing can call 647-3699 or 647-9954 for more information.
