LEWISTON – Central Maine Medical Center’s Senior Health and Wellness Services will offer the following programs to the region’s older residents during October:
Fit and Fun: a low-impact aerobics, strengthening, stretching and flexibility class. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to noon. A fee will be charged.
ScoreKeeper: a free cardiac risk assessment, including total cholesterol, HDL, blood pressure and individual consultation. Fridays, Oct. 3 and 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free by appointment.
Bladder health consults: with Angela Dubuc, RN, manager of the CMMC Bladder Control Center. Monday, Oct. 6, by appointment. Participants can meet one-on-one to discuss concerns and learn about possible solutions to bladder-related problems. The consults are free.
Prostate screening: with urologists Dr. Joel Olstein, Dr. Paul Mailhot, Dr. Robert Kester and Dr. Mark Cabelin. Participants will be offered a digital exam and a PSA blood test. Friday, Oct. 24, between 1 and 3 p.m. by appointment. The services will be provided at no cost.
“What You Need to Know about Influenza, Pneumonia and SARS”: with Barbara Aliberti, RN, on Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 1 to 2 p.m. in Conference Room A. Program-goers will learn how to better avoid catching the diseases, what signs and symptoms to look for and what the various treatment options are. There is no admission fee for this presentation.
Free blood pressure screenings: offered on a walk-in basis on Mondays from 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9:30 and 11 a.m.
