I read in the Sun Journal that we are not No. 1 in the seafood industry anymore (Sept. 18).

How can we stay No. 1 when all the state does is take away fishermen’s rights? They give them rules. They, then, take everything away from them. They are family providers, as are all of us who have to work to take care of our families.

By the way, the fishermen work very long, hard hours. Maybe some day the problems they have to endure every day will stop. God bless them and I hope things will look up for them.

Now we can see why we are not No. 1. It’s not the fishermen’s fault.
