Caucus meetings to determine Maine’s vote for the Democratic nominee for president will be held on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004. County Chairwoman Cathy Newell is assembling the list of caucus convenors for each town in Oxford County.

The list must be turned in to the Maine Democratic Party by Dec. 1 so that training sessions may be held in December and January. Anyone who would like to be involved in the caucus in their town should contact Newell at 875-2116 or [email protected].

Duties include publicizing the caucus meetings, making arrangements for the facility, posting legal notices and conducting the meeting. Duties are often shared among several individuals and several neighboring towns may decide to hold their caucuses at the same location, such as the local high school, allowing candidates to visit.
