1927-2003

AUGUSTA – Julienne B. Bourassa, loving wife of Dr. Henry L. Bourassa (who practiced dentistry in Augusta), died at her home on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003. They were married in Lewiston on August 16, 1952. Julienne was predeceased by her husband in 1996.

Mrs. Bourassa was born in Lewiston, Sept. 1, 1927 and attended and graduated from St. Peter’s Parish School, Lewiston High School and Bliss Business College.

She relocated to Augusta in 1946 to work for the Office of Price Administration, then transferred to the Bureau of Internal Revenue, where she remained until 1954. Her parents were Theophile and Clarilda (Royer) Bernier of Lewiston.

After 50 years of residence in Augusta, Julienne had many friends and acquaintances. She was a member of the following organizations: Ladies of St. Anne Society, Kennebec Valley Medical Auxiliary, Cecelia Club, Association Canado-Americaine, Friends of Ft. Western, Maine State Museum and Calumet Educational Trust Fund.

In March 1991 she was honored at the Blaine House as the annual Merit Mother by the Association of Maine Mothers.

She is survived by her eight children, including Susanne Lapointe of Augusta, Denise Knight of Singapore, Pierre Bourassa of Princeton Junction, N.J., Colette Bourassa of Boston, Mass., Philippe Bourassa of Boston, Mass., Louis Bourassa of Los Angeles, Calif., Lisa Bourassa of Niskayuna, N.Y. and Lucia Dvorak of Lexington, Ky.; eight grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her last surviving brother, Raymond Bernier resides in Lewiston.

Julienne Bourassa is remembered as a caring and kind mother, grandmother and friend who possessed a good business sense and appreciation of the arts. Her main interest in life was her family, friends and community. She will be greatly missed.

Bourassa – Julienne B., died Oct. 5, 2003. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, where members of the Ladies of St. Anne are asked to meet at 3 p.m. for a prayer service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Western Avenue, Augusta. Burial will be at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta. If desired, memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Calumet Educational Foundation, Inc., P.O.
