LEWISTON – Twenty one members of the Franco American War Veterans Post 31 and Auxiliary attended the three-day national convention in Plainsville, Conn., when post and auxiliary members were elected national commander and national president.
The new national commander is Linda McCollum (the first woman ever to be elected to the post) and national president is Fern Ronan.
Other national officers elected from the post include Bob Levesque, senior vice commander; Jerry Dewitt, junior vice commander; Maurice Dutil, adjutant; Raymond Boulet, officer of the day; auxiliary, Winnie Pelletier, second vice president; Nancy Tardiff, chaplain; Arlene Tierney, conductress; and Sandra McGill, color bearer.
Post 31 was also awarded the National Commander Plaque, as well at 100 percent membership awards. Attending the convention were Gloria and Jon Shoemaker, Pauline and Bob Levesque, Monique and Maurice Dutil, Nancy and Leo Tardiff, Winnie and Bill Pelletier, Shirley and Gerry Leblanc, Bert Dutil, Raymond Boulet, Paul Emond, Jerry Dewitt, George Fleury, Fern Ronan, Linda McCollum, Sandra McGill and Arlene Tierney.
