Celtics’ forward Vin Baker returns and scores eight points.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) – Richard Hamilton scored 18 points and Ben Wallace added 17 as the Detroit Pistons beat the Boston Celtics 104-89 Wednesday night in a preseason game at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

The game marked the return of Celtics’ forward Vin Baker, who underwent rehabilitation for alcohol abuse. Baker, a former University of Hartford star, scored eight points and blocked two shots before leaving midway through the third quarter with an injured left foot.

Hamilton, who starred at the University of Connecticut, scored 10 points in the third quarter as the Pistons (1-1) built an 84-69 lead. Hamilton, Wallace and the rest of Detroit’s starters were on the bench for the fourth quarter.

Tayshaun Prince scored 12 points and Chauncey Billups 10 for Detroit. The Pistons also got a collective 41 points from their bench, including six from top draft pick Darko Milicic, who played 14 minutes.

Kedrick Brown led the Celtics with 18 points, while Paul Pierce had 13 and Antoine Walker added 10.
