Members will attend fall luncheon, program at Auburn college.
LEWISTON – The Woman’s Hospital Association of Central Maine Medical Center will hold its fall membership meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 15, in the Culinary Arts Building at Central Maine Community College, Turner Street.
All members and others interested in joining the association are invited to attend. The annual single membership dues of $20, individual and spousal dues of $30, or a lifetime membership of $200 includes at 10 percent discount on purchases at the Gift Shop, excluding candy, flowers, sundries, balloons and cards. Members also are eligible for membership at the Wellness Center, at employee rates.
The event will include a social period from 11:30 a.m. to noon, lunch from noon to 1 p.m. and the speaker at 1 p.m.
The featured speaker will be Mark Howard. Howard studied music at Baldwin-Wallace College in Ohio and English literature at Bates College, where he is the assistant to the Department of Music and is a piano instructor.
An avid reader and collector of antiquarian books, Howard has amassed a library of books on various subjects related to cookery and the domestic arts. He was invited to speak at Radcliffe College and has taught a seminar on the subject of the “History of Cookbook Publishing in the United State” at the University of Southern Maine for several years. He also is well know as a pianist and accompanist.
The luncheon cost is $12, and reservations should be made in advance by calling the Gift Shop at CMMC at 795-2295.
