FARMINGTON – The Western Mountains Alliance has hired Amy Scott of Newry to fill the new position of project coordinator.
“We are pleased to have Amy join our growing team. Her past work on Maine rivers, coupled with her skills in community organizing and grant writing will greatly enhance our work in helping to shape the future of western Maine,” said Deb Burd, executive director of the Western Mountains Alliance.
Scott is a graduate of the College of the Atlantic where she was the recipient of the Morris K. Udall Excellence in National Environmental Policy Scholarship. Most recently, she worked with the faculty of the college to create a watershed studies program, and developed and coordinated the Union River Watershed Coalition in eastern Maine’s Hancock County.
She has also helped the Northern Forest Center develop a teacher’s resource guide to cultural and natural resource programs in the region. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Augusta-based Maine Rivers.
Established in 1988, the Western Mountains Alliance strives to improve the quality of life and to strengthen the regional identity of those living in Oxford, Franklin, Somerset, Piscataquis and northern Androscoggin counties.
