GORHAM – Evan Hanson netted a pair of goals, including the game-winner, to lead the University of Southern Maine to a 3-0 triumph over the University of New England in non-conference women’s soccer Tuesday.
Lauren Gagnon set up the decisive goal when she collected a loose ball along sideline and sent a sharp cross to the back post. Hanson corralled the ball and directed it just inside the post in the 28th minute of play.
Devin Edwards chipped in with a goal as well, taking a hard shot from point-blank range for the Huskies’ (6-6-1) win.
St. Joe’s 3, Thomas 0
STANDISH – Danielle McLaughlin had a goal and an assist as St. Joe’s shutout Thomas 3-0 in a women’s soccer Tuesday afternoon.
The other goal scorers for the Monks were Danielle Somma and Kelly Cyr who also had a goal and an assist.
The Terriers’ goalie Jess Craft made nine saves.
