LEWISTON – Assistant City Administrator Phil Nadeau has agreed to speak at today’s Great Falls Forum at the Muskie Archives on the Bates College campus. He replaces Joyce Williams, president of the New England Area Conference of the National Association of the Advancement of Colored People, who had to cancel due to a work conflict. The forum is from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Nadeau will discuss diversity based on his experiences in his current city position.

Nadeau has lectured around New England. He currently serves on the Governor’s Immigrant/Refugee Task Force and on the State of Maine’s New Residents Committee that serves as a collaborative effort among state agencies, nonprofit agencies and municipal representatives who provide services for immigrant populations in Maine.

He also participated in, and edited, a report issued to former Maine Gov. Angus King on immigration/refugee impacts within the city of Lewiston in May of 2002.

The report has been credited by many across the state for placing the issue of immigration and refugee policy in the statewide public domain as a matter requiring direct state/federal input and participation.

The Great Falls Forum is a monthly public platform for thought-provoking speakers and discussion. A question-and-answer period follows each talk.
