PARIS – A 22-year-old Mexico man pleaded guilty Tuesday in Oxford County Superior Court to stealing more than $2,000 in items in two July break-ins and separate charges of possession of OxyContin and forgery.

Christopher L. Dougherty of 62 Backkingdom Road, Mexico, was sentenced to four years, all but one year suspended, on the burglary charges, and three years’ probation. He was also ordered to repay his two victims, Timothy Turner and John Wesley, $2,325 in restitution.

Police reports in the court record show Dougherty broke into Turner’s home July 16 and stole a DVD player, DVDs, CDs, cash and a food stamp card. The same day, Dougherty broke into John Wesley’s home and stole an Xbox and games, while also destroying a window and lamp in Wesley’s house.

Dougherty received a six-month sentence after pleading guilty to unlawful possession of scheduled drugs in Rumford on March 4 and 6.

Police used surveillance equipment and a “cooperating individual” to catch Dougherty in the act of selling OxyContin. From a Falmouth Street, Rumford, residence, Dougherty obtained four 20 milligram tablets of OxyContin in return for $110 cash from the cooperating individual as the transaction was being electronically and visually monitored March 4 by Rumford police.

On March 6, Dougherty returned to the Falmouth Street residence and obtained five 40 milligram OxyContin tablets after the same cooperating individual gave Dougherty $150. Once again, Rumford police were monitoring the transaction.

Dougherty also pleaded guilty to forgery and received a one-year sentence after stealing checks from James Bulgers after breaking into his Mexico home on Jane. 24.

All sentences were ordered to run concurrently, or at the same time with one another.
