Clothing center announces hours

HARTFORD – The Hartford Clothing Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Oct. 18, and again from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturdays, Nov. 1 and 15, Dec. 6 and 20.

Harvest concert to be held Saturday

NORWAY – A harvest concert with blend of acoustic folk/blues/rock, originals and traditionals performed by four members of the Commons Music Collective will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at Fare Share Commons, 447 Main St.

Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults, $3 for ages under 12, at the door. It is sponsored by the Commons Music Collective. This is a not for profit group.

Legion to hold flag disposal, picnic

NORWAY – The Stone Smart American Legion Post will hold a picnic and flag disposal ceremony Sunday, Oct. 19.

The picnic will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by the ceremony at 12:30 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Clifford, 714 Greenwood Road.

Bring your own picnic lunch and flags to be formally disposed of.

They may also be brought to the fall festival at the Norway Legion Hall from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18.

Library activities

NORWAY – The Norway Memorial Library has announced events to be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the library. Bates College professors, Melissa Wender, assistant professor of Japanese and Asian Studies, and Dennis Grafflin, professor of History, will present important topics and perspectives on Korea’s current place in international affairs. Wender, who is a scholar of literature, and Grafflin, a historian, often co-teach the Korea history survey course at Bates. WEST PARIS – There has been a change to the singspiration events being held by the West Paris Baptist Church. A singspiration will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at the North Paris Federated Church, North Paris village. A baptism will be held 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at the Mollyockett Motel on Route 26. Christmas parade

PARIS – The Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce is announced this year’s theme for the 27th annual Christmas Parade will be Winter Wonderland. It was chosen from more than two dozen entries received by the Christmas Parade Committee. Chamber president and committee Chairwoman Deb Partridge said the theme fits perfectly because of the emphasis on the world’s largest snowshoe that will be on display in the parade. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, snow, rain or shine. It is open to any business, nonprofit, civic organization, school group, or other organization. Registration forms for float entries may be obtained at the Chamber of Commerce and Information Center at 213 Main St., South Paris.
