AUBURN – Erica Dorso and Caitlin Rutt tallied single goals Thursday to lead St. Dom’s to a 2-0 win over North Yarmouth Academy, completing the second consecutive undefeated season for Brian Kay’s hard-charging Saints. Ilissa Vallee turned aside 18 shots in net for the Saints (14-0) to notch the shutout.
Caroline Wyatt made an impressive 21 saves in net for the Panthers (10-4). The Saints will likely face Freeport next Wednesday in first-round playoff action.
Telstar 3, Boothbay 2
BETHEL – Megan Bailey slapped the tie-breaking game-winner amidst a scramble in front of the net with 8:45 left in regulation to lift Telstar to a 3-2 win over Boothbay in MVC girls’ field hockey action Thursday.
Kayla Mills and Mallory Brown scored a goal apiece for the Rebels (9-5) in the first half for a 2-0 lead at the midpoint. Fiona Kerr responded with a pair of goals in the second half to even up the match for the Seahawks.
Lorena Borjas made 12 saves for the Seahawks (7-5-2), while Heather Gionet and Stephanie Tripp shared keeper duties with a pair of saves for the Rebels.
Girls’ soccer
Lewiston 3, Lawrence 0
FAIRFIELD – Katie L. Morin kicked a long looping blast over the head of the goalie from 20 yards out to knock home the game-winning goal as Lewiston grabbed a 3-0 win over Lawrence in KVAC girls’ soccer action Thursday.
Kelsey Varney chipped in with a goal in each half for the Blue Devils (13-0-1). Laura Martel assisted on all three Lewiston goals.
Beth Melanson made eight saves for her seventh consecutive shutout victory for the Blue Devils, while Katye Mayo tossed aside 24 shots in net for the Bulldogs.
Winslow 3, Camden 1
WINSLOW – Brittany Morin netted a pair of unassisted goals in the second half to lift Winslow to a 3-1 KVAC victory over Camden in girls’ soccer action Thursday.
Nicole Ferrell tallied a goal for the Black Raiders (11-3) to round out the tally. Marie McCleary needed only two saves to post the win.
Caitlin Brown scored the lone goal for the Windjammers (10-4) in the first half, while Beth Herron made 11 saves in net for the loss.
Waynflete 2, Poland 0
POLAND – Allie Gids and Luisa Murphy tallied first half goals to propel Waynflete to a 2-0 win over Poland in WMC soccer action Thursday.
Gids provided the assist on Murphy’s goal, while Anina Hewey handled the assist for Gids. Lily Hancock needed just one save to notch the win for the Flyers (9-3).
Casey Darnell made nine saves in net for the Knights (3-8-1).
Mt. Blue 3, Med. Valley 0
FARMINGTON – Sandy Moloney netted a pair of goals Thursday to pace Mt. Blue to a 3-0 victory over Medomak Valley in a KVAC soccer matchup. Amy Mansir added a goal for the Cougars (3-11) to complete the scoring. Jessica Merchant turned away seven shots in net to record the win.
Nikki Brown made 18 saves between the posts for the Panthers (1-12-1).
Rangeley 4, Averill 1
RANGELEY – Sarah Schrader scored two goals in the second half to propel Rangeley to a 4-1 win over Averill in another late-season soccer matchup Thursday. Ashley Quimby and Abby Madeira tallied single goals for the Lakers (9-2-1) to round out the final tally. Justine Frost-Kolva needed nary a save to record the victory.
Danielle Gowen scored the lone goal for the Beavers (0-11) on a penalty kick, while Lisa Seavey made a respectable 27 saves in net.
Maranacook 1, Belfast 0
READFIELD – Jackie Mrazik piloted the game-winner and only goal of the contest with 3:18 left to regulation to lift Maranacook to a 1-0 upset win over Belfast in KVAC girls’ soccer action Thursday.
Mrazik converted a crossing pass from Ali Trafton and found the back of the net from eight yards out for the Black Bears (11-3).
Amy Cloutier made 10 saves, including a pair of exceptional stops, to secure the shutout for Maranacook. Byrna Harrington had eight saves for the Lions (13-1) in their first loss of the season.
EL 3, Cony 1
AUBURN – Telma Rosquete zipped a 25-yard shot into the near post for the eventual game-winner to lead Edward Little to a 3-1 win over Cony in KVAC girls’ soccer action Thursday.
Elyse Conant assisted on Rosquete’s goal with a pass from the right wing in addition to notching the first goal of the game for the Red Eddies (7-5-2) on an assist from Rosquete.
Maggie Bende scored an unassisted goal late in the first half to cut the lead to 2-1 for the Rams. Alyson Keene netted an insurance goal for the Red Eddies in the second half.
Oxford Hills 0, Waterville 0
SOUTH PARIS – The Vikings and the Panthers played a hard-fought game on Thursday afternoon, but neither could muster a goal as Oxford Hills and Waterville came away with a 0-0 tie.
The Vikings’ (6-6-2) best opportunity came 10 minutes into the game when Steph Piirainen fed a pass to Annie Foster, but the shot went wide right. The Panthers’ (10-1-3) best opportunity came when Andrea Trenworth fired a shot from just left of the net only to be saved by Oxford Hills’ Mary Darcy. Darcy turned away six shots in net. Kelley Landry made four saves for Waterville.
