LEWISTON – The Lewiston Center for Women, Work and Community will host a community forum, “Advancing Women’s Voices: Creating Awareness about the Issues that Affect Our Lives Every Day,” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, in room J103 at Central Maine Community College. A light lunch will be provided.
Women in local communities are faced with challenges to build a better life for themselves and their families. Some of these challenges include violence and abuse at home, at work and in the community, no transportation or insufficient transportation, not enough affordable, high-quality child care, high-priced medical and dental insurance, lack of guidance in career and personal development or lack of access to education, training and lifelong learning.
If any or all of the challenges sound familiar, women are asked to bring the issues to the forum. Women are asked to share their wisdom and experiece with community and legislative leaders. The goal is to help policy- and decision-makers understand what women want and need to encourage positive change in their lives.
