BRIDGTON – The Maine Department of Transportation has limited traffic over Walker’s Shop Bridge to passenger cars and light pickup trucks, effective immediately. The bridge is located on Depot Street next to the Stevens Brook Elementary School. John Buxton of the MDOT’s Bridge Maintenance office in Augusta said it has been determined to no longer be safe for vehicles heavier that three tons. The traffic limit should not affect bus traffic to and from school. Buxton said the MDOT’s Bridge Maintenance Section will undertake immediate repairs to remedy the recent critical findings.
