MEXICO – The Region 9 Board of Directors will meet Tuesday following the annual Craft Committee dinner.

Director Deborah Guimont said the dinner gives the staff, board and committees made up of adults in the field of each of the vocational programs offered at the school a chance to review the curriculum and discuss any issues that may have come up since last year.

The eight committees offer advice and insight into each of the vocational programs offered at Region 9, which include computers, hospitality and cooperative education, certified nursing assistant, building trades, metal trades, forestry, truck driving and prevocational education.

At 7:30 p.m., the regular monthly meeting begins in the conference room. Guimont said topics to be discussed include setting up a schedule for the 2004 budget process, which includes appointing a committee to work out a procedure for negotiating a new contract for most of the school’s employees, review of the policy that outlines for whom students may work for as part of their vocational program, and action on sending students to a Valley Industry and Commerce Association leadership conference next month.

Guimont said she will also update the board on the policy that deals with allowing expelled students to attend adult education classes, provide an overall update on the current adult education program, and discuss a possible referendum vote for next year’s budget rather than the usual districtwide, town meeting vote.
