MEXICO – A teenager from Rumford was caught and held for police by several Wal-Mart employees following a wild foot chase through the woods last week, police said.

Sgt. Robert Gallant was called to Wal-Mart on Route 2 at 3:20 p.m. Thursday after 13 employees chased down a 16-year-old boy who had reportedly been caught stealing an electric shaver.

Gallant said the boy, who was out on probation for a previous shoplifting conviction, left the store and ran through the woods barefoot with a pack of employees in hot pursuit.

After being arrested, the youth was released to a family member.
