MEXICO – Selectmen will learn of the progress made in the beautification of the downtown area, consider a request for a new crosswalk, and discuss a new policy that provides guidelines to accessing police department records when they meet on Thursday.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the town office conference room.

Chairman Arthur Bordeau said the board will also set a special meeting to review the town’s personnel policy, and discuss how the two referendum questions that attempt to address property taxes will affect Mexico. The board will also learn of plans by Adelphia cable to rebuild a portion of the lines and discuss the cable franchise agreement.

Other agenda items include appointment of an election warden for the Nov. 4 statewide election and a request to the state Department of Transportation for a 5 percent increase in the amount of funds the department pays the town to clear winter roads.

The meeting begins with a public hearing on the town’s general assistance ordinance. Following the public portion of the meeting, two closed sessions will be held to deal with town manager issues. The first will be the finalization of the annual town manager review. The second will be a discussion on possibly providing additional office help to the town manager.
