GORHAM (AP) – A 16-year-old boy was killed Tuesday when he lost control of his vehicle on a dirt road and crashed into several large trees.
Gorham police Sgt. Robert Mailman said excessive speed appears to have been a factor in the 1:43 p.m. crash. The name of the victim was not released.
Police said the Jeep Cherokee had five occupants and was being driven on a dirt road that was once a railroad bed. The tracks were removed years ago.
The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. One adult and three other juveniles were injured and transported to Maine Medical Center for treatment, police said.
