LIVERMORE – The recently installed officers of Charity Rebekah Lodge of Livermore Falls will fill the chairs at the meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at their hall, the Ralph Wright Memorial Building at 284 Federal Road. Refreshments will be available at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting starting at 7:30.
The recently appointed district deputy president of District No. 10, Frances Berry, and her marshall, Betty Harriman, will make their official visit representing the president of Rebekah Assembly of Maine, Lucille B. Nelson of Auburn, and present her program for the year. There will also be a report of the annual sessions of the Rebekah Assembly of Maine held at South Portland last week.
Public luncheon
FARMINGTON – The monthly community luncheons at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church will begin the fall season with a luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the church located on Academy Street.
The menu, which is offered to the community at no charge, is corned beef and cabbage with potatoes and carrots, biscuits and apple bar dessert.

STRONG – The Strong School fourth- and fifth-graders are re-opening Best Buy Supply in the rotunda of the school from 7 to 8 a.m. on Fridays only. Best Buy Supply offers erasers, notebooks, pencils and grips for sale. Students are raising money for a new playground, which will be open before and after school and on weekends. The students received $200 from the Margaret Chase Smith Library Foundation. Maria Logan wrote grants. The group has already received $9,000 from the Ronald McDonald House.
Church members
FARMINGTON FALLS – Recently six new members were added to the roles of the Union Baptist Church by transfer or reinstatement. New members include Randall and Audrey Gifford, the Rev. John and Jane Tolman, Bernard and Velora Pressey. The right hand of fellowship was extended by deacons, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Karkos, on behalf of the church.
The adult Sunday School class is continuing to discuss the by-laws and the statement of faith of the church.
Tolman’s sermon for Sunday, Oct. 26, will come from the book of Habakkuk and is titled, “How Long, O Lord, How Long is This Going to Go On.”
