AUGUSTA – The Social Security Office will be moving to North Park Professional Building, 330 Civic Center Drive in Augusta. It opens at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28.

It has been in the Muskie Federal Building on Western Avenue for nearly 40 years. The SSA office in the Federal Building will have limited service to the public from Oct. 21-24.

There will be no services Monday, Oct. 27.

The new office will have better parking, a fully handicapped accessible reception area, better interviewing space with more privacy, and improved staff training facilities, according to District Manager Mike Burke.

The phone numbers will not change. The main phone number, 622-1451, will be out of service Oct. 22 to 27. People needing to contact Social Security during that time are encouraged to call (800) 772-1213 or call the Waterville office at 872-2723 or Rockland at 596-6633.

The mailing address is changed to: Social Security Administration, 330 Civic Center Dr., P.O. Box 1075, Augusta, ME 04332, effective immediately.

Social Security’s Office of Hearings and Appeals will continue to schedule hearings in Room 611 of the Muskie Federal Building.
