Today, I was proud to be part of a small, eloquent group of concerned individuals to meet with Cheryl Leeman of Senator Olympia Snowe’s office in Portland to express concern – even outrage – over the dirty, dangerous energy bill pending in Congress. The world deserves a clean, renewable, reliable energy structure. And the U.S. should lead that charge.

This bill takes the world in another direction. It’s time to stop unfairly subsidizing the ever-profitable and polluting nuclear, coal and oil industries. I encourage Sens. Snowe and Collins to not support the energy bill as it stands now.

Having long felt I could make no difference, I became energized by the American public’s success in reversing the administration’s recent Federal Communications Commission’ s deregulation of ownership. I was proud of Sen. Snowe’s leadership role in that reversal and her eloquence while doing so. I encourage readers to get involved. Express your opinion. It’s important. It’s quick. And it affects us all.
