WISCASSET – The New England Healthcare Engineers Society named Don Garrison, chief of facilities management of Franklin Community Healthcare Network in Farmington, Healthcare Engineer of the Year for 2003.
He was chosen for his demonstrated leadership in engineering and for his continued effort to promote the profession. Mark English, president of NEHES, will present this prestigious award at the annual banquet during the New England Conference in Newport, R.I., on Thursday.
Garrison was nominated and chosen by his colleagues from six states. Garrison has led many programs in the Veterans Administration and at Franklin. He received letters from President Carter after he moved his facility to No. 1 in the nation among VA hospitals for energy conservation. He also just completed a $12,000,000 renovation/new construction project at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
“He has been a tireless, longtime advocate supporting the mission of NEHES beginning as Maine State rep in 1994, serving as president of NEHES in 1997, and regional representative to the American Society for Healthcare Engineering since 2001,” English said.
Garrison lives in Farmingdale.
