LIVERMORE FALLS – Members of the Dispatch Study Committee agreed Monday that they had finished their investigative work and should now go onto the final phase, presenting their report.

That report is being compiled by Vice Chairman Tom DuBois and will be presented to the committee for final review at its next meeting, set for 4:30 p.m. Nov. 3 in the Town Office.

Included will be comparisons of the pros and cons of three possibilities: having parts of the dispatch duties done by Androscoggin Sheriff’s Department, having dispatch done by Jay or leaving dispatch as it is.

Their report will include estimated figures, both savings and possible costs.

Committee members have stressed repeatedly that they are not a decision-making group, their charge was only to look into the various possibilities and report back to the selectmen who will make a recommendation to the people.

Even if dispatch were done by another unit, the committee was told it would still be necessary to have someone in the police station, at least part-time, to assist the officers in keeping records and preparing information for court appearances.

If it were done in Jay, the equipment would also have to be maintained at Jay and there would be capital costs involved in making the move.
