As someone who has lived in Maine my entire life, I am scared of the direction the state is heading if the casino is voted down.

The opposition, including two former governors, has no solution or ideas to create the jobs that a casino will bring.

These former governors led this state into the current situation where we need such a radical move. Under their leaderships, we lost a great number of manufacturing jobs.

One of the CasinosNO! objections is Maine has no control. What businesses in this state allows the state to control it?

LL Bean, Wal-Mart, the state has no say in their operations; they take the risk in building and offering their products or services for profit. Why should the state want to control a casino? The state controlled liquor stores for years. It was found out that it was a mistake, and they got out of the business.

I am really tired of the out-and-out distortion of the truth about crime. State and federal laws will apply, the Indian tribes will have a force, and the state police will also have jurisdiction. I believe if this issue is defeated, crime will go up because of the hopelessness of no future, and the despair of being stuck.

The casino will create jobs and tax revenue for education without tax increases. More tourists will come to the state, and it’s a step toward something new and exciting.
