Why would anyone in their right mind vote to put a casino in someone’s backyard? Would they want it in their backyard?

More traffic, more police protection, more noise pollution, more upkeep of the roads, and more unsafe crossings for the children and adults who are disabled. Are they putting all of this in perspective? I am part Indian, as both of my grandmothers were Indian. But I wouldn’t vote to put a casino in anyone’s backyard.

People can go to Foxwoods or Atlantic City if they like to gamble. There are bus trips all the time to these places. Why do we need more? Maine belongs to all of us; let’s not forget that.

I am a 79-year-old World War II infantryman, and I served 21 months in Europe during the war. I have worked all my life. My father died when he was 27 years old when I was only 2 1/2 years old. I love Maine with its four seasons. Let’s not spoil it.
