1913 – 2003

LEWISTON – Roland N. LaPlante, 89, of Old Greene Road, died Thursday, Oct. 23, at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion.

Born in St. Albert, P.Q., Canada, Dec. 25, 1913, a son of Paul and Alexina Cloutier LaPlante. He was educated in Lewiston schools and attended Robert’s Business Academy.

He worked as a salesman 18 years for Sealtest Ice Cream, City of Lewiston Pumping Station for 11 years retiring in 1976. He then worked part time in the meat department at Bourque’s Market retiring in 1985.

Mr. LaPlante was a member of Holy Family Parish and sang in the choir, St. Joseph’s Association, Holy Family bowling and golfing league, Lewiston Senior Citizens bowling league.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, the former Arianne P. Parent of Lewiston whom he married Aug. 24, 1935; a daughter, Constance Burke and husband Roger of Lewiston; two sons, Richard R. of Cherry Plain, N.Y., and Marc M. and his wife Cathy of Minot; five grandchildren, Stephanie and Michael Burke, and Jessica, Lauren, and Anna LaPlante; two sisters, Florence St. Pierre and husband Donat, Jeanne Bissonnette and husband Roger of Lewiston; a brother, Reynald LaPlante of Tennesee.

He was predeceased by his sister, Emilienne; and his two brothers, Armand and Gerard.
