AUBURN – A Central Maine Security Conference will be held Friday, Nov. 7, at Central Maine Community College on Friday, Nov. 7. The conference will be 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The conference is designed for a number of organizations, including retailers, nonprofits, schools, municipalities and small business owners.

Bill Libby, deputy commissioner of the Maine Department of Defense, Veterans and Emergency Management, will give a keynote presentation on homeland security. Libby will also present a breakout session on “9/11: A Look Back, the Road Ahead for Business Vulnerability and Continuity.”

Other topics will include “Crisis Communication,” “The Martial Art of Information Security,” “Emergency Disaster Planning,” “Bomb Threats in the Workplace” and “Workplace Violence.” The conference will conclude with a panel providing information, checklists and assessments for emergency preparedness and safeguarding the workplace.

“In this day and age of disgruntled employees, domestic violence, chemical spills, severe weather and terrorism, the need for emergency planning and preparedness is so important,” said Joanne Potvin, director of the Androscoggin Unified Emergency Management Agency and a conference presenter. “This security conference will address many of the possible hazards that can affect productivity and threaten employees.”
