I object to the lead story in your Oct. 21 edition. The glaring headline reads: “Analysts: Casino bill a bad deal.”

With a sub headline that says: “A banker says the state should auction off the gaming license.”

In the article, as I read it, that there were many positive points about the casino, including the state’s 25 percent take on the slot machines. Then toward the end of the article it states: “So far, no state has auctioned off licenses.”

So the story itself refuted both headlines. It does a disservice to your readers whom may not have had time to read the entire article.

Now the governor is in ads against the casino. How does he justify that the state runs Megabucks, recently expanded the pick three and pick four numbers games and has dozens of scratch tickets from the Maine State Lottery? Isn’t that gambling?

I hope the people of Maine will seize this opportunity to bring a company into Maine that will generate hundreds of millions of dollars for the state. If you’re against gambling, don’t go to the casino.

From the newly expanded smoking ban to the casino, once again the state of Maine is regulating your freedom of choice.
