I’m sure the front page Associated Press story about the casino issue in the Sun Journal (Oct. 21) did its desired job of scaring voters. The story was probably worthy of publication, but not as a front-page headliner.

I believe the Sun Journal was irresponsible when it chose to run a story that didn’t reveal to the readers until the last, buried line of the story (on another page no less) the fact that its main premise that the casino deal is a bad one for Maine is because the licenses would be worth much more money to the state if auctioned off; yet, to date in history, not one state has ever done so.

The real story is jobs, not scare tactics. What sort of quality of life does one have without a job?
