I really can’t believe these ads by CasinosNO!

What a bunch of hype. They say Maine lawmakers will have no authority at the casino. Maine lawmakers will have just as much authority there as at any other business in the state.

They say Maine only gets revenue from the slots and that the Vegas corporations will make millions. There is a proposed $100 million dollars for the state of Maine that could be used for education and to help elderly programs.

And, of course, the casino will make money. I don’t know of any business that is in business not to make money.

What scare tactics CasinosNO! have come up with. They say $400 million a year will be lost at the casino. What about all the money Maine people lose on the lottery, horse racing and bingo. These are all gambling, yet I have seen no bingo hall giving $100 million to the state each year or creating 5,000 to 10,000 new jobs for the people of Maine.

They also scare us about the increase in crime. I have been to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun several times and have never seen mobsters, prostitutes running around or a traffic problem. I’ve seen nothing but very well kept entertainment establishments with people enjoying themselves.

Anyone in Maine that wants to go to a casino will do so. Let’s keep our money in our state.
