• An Auburn man lost control of his vehicle and crashed into an utility pole, but escaped injuries, according to the police report. James Smith, 18, of 37 Littlefield Road, Auburn, was driving his 1989 Honda at a high rate of speed on South Main Street, according to the report. When Smith turned onto Eighth Street he lost control, went into a skid, left the road and crashed into an utility pole. Estimated damage to his vehicle was $5,000.
