In response to Gary Paquette’s letter “Marriage,” what God has joined together, let no man separate them (Oct. 19).

Marriage, with its high divorce rate, massive killing of children and spouses, where are family values? The sanctity of marriage no longer exists, even the Catholic Church has provided an exit – annulment, making void the existence of a Catholic marriage.

Paquette continues, we sing “God Bless America” yet society is considering legalizing same sex marriages. He claims that being gay is wrong. God created hetero/homosexuals in his image. Wake up. From the beginning, 10 to 15 percent of the world’s population has been gay, and it will continue until the end of time.

A marriage license is a legal piece of paper granted by the government where two consenting adults decide to join together to build a future. It does not say that children are a must. Religious groups see marriage as go forth and multiply. As a Christian nation, one must leave the Old Testament behind and start reading the teachings of Christ Jesus to never condemn homosexuals, nor should others. Gay couples should be granted the same rights as their brothers and sisters.
