AUBURN – Western Maine Transportation Services Inc. moved into a new facility at 65 Washington St.

The building allows the nonprofit public transportation provider to enhance its in-house vehicle maintenance program. Maintenance operations move from Mexico to the full-sized three-bay garage in Auburn. The new facility will also be home for the Androscoggin County and southern Oxford County customer service and dispatch operations.

WMTS is hosting an open house for the public, 2 to 6 p.m. Oct. 29. There will be refreshments and door prizes.

WMTS is a private, nonprofit corporation designated by the Maine Department of Transportation as a Regional Transit Corporation. WMTS serves Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties. Its mission is to provide nonemergency transportation services to the general population of its service area, with special emphasis for the low income, elderly and disabled. This is accomplished by providing fixed route, semi-fixed route, demand-response and contract services in the region.

WMTS contracts with the Lewiston-Auburn Transit Committee to operate the City Link bus service.
