1911 – 2003

LEWISTON – Antonio R. Gendron, 92, a resident of 71 Heritage Court, Auburn, died Monday afternoon, Oct. 27, at Central Maine Medical Center after a brief illness.

He was born in Lewiston Feb. 13, 1911, the son of Charles and Josephine Landry Gendron. He was educated in Lewiston schools. On July 3, 1950 he married the former Mildred Clark, she passed away in 1981.

He had been employed in his earlier years as a farmer, later owning and operating Gendron’s Restaurant in New Gloucester. In his later years he was employed with his son who owned Tri-State Rubbish Disposal from which he retired.

He was a member of Le Club Montagnard, The Lewiston-Auburn Snowshoe Club, The Cavalier, and 20M Social Clubs. An avid Beano player, he also played championship Bumper-Pool. He also was an avid hunter getting his last deer last season.

He leaves three daughters, Joan Crowell Sr. and her husband Phillip of Auburn, Jean Canuel and her husband Roger of Lewiston, and Jo-Ann McDonough and her husband Gerald of Pembrooke, Mass.; two sons, Guy W. Hart and his wife Linda of Poland, and Robert Gendron of Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elise Paradis of Lewiston, and Yvonne Raymond of Virginia; and a brother, Arthur Gendron of Lewiston.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Emile, Mayo, Rosaire, and Philippe Gendron; and sisters, Ida Moreau, Rima Therien, Laura Roy, Rose Aube, and Eva Gendron.
