Iraqi’s have been complaining about the United States’ obscene waste of money in their country. That was when the U.S. dollars were freely given.
Now with the request of the Senate and House of Representatives that $10 billion of the $87 billion budget be repaid to the United States, the Iraqis are likely to insist that the waste stops.
Iraqis are likely to demand that Bechtel and Halliburton bid for work against competitive contractors. This will undoubtedly reduce the cost to the U.S. taxpayer as well. No more $6,000 price tags for walkie-talkies.
Thank you Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe and Reps. Michael Michaud and Tom Allen.
If we could get someone in the oval office with half as much common sense, we might get through this.
