1936 – 2003

AUBURN – Howard R. Greene Jr., 67, of South Paris, died at Clover Manor early Sunday morning, Oct. 26, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

He was born Sept. 19, 1936, in Lubec, the eldest son of Howard and Avis Greene formerly of Farmington.

He graduated from Farmington High School with the Class of 1954. He married Janet Lintner of Amherst, N.H., on Feb. 25, 1967. They had been married 36 years.

He became known as “Howie,” “Greenie,” or “Sonny” to family and friends, first in Farmington, where he grew up and later in Milford, N.H., where he and his dad and brother, Sheldon owned and operated an auto-body business for a number of years.

He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve as a member of the Construction Battalion, known as the SEABEES from 1953 until 1966 and was honorably discharged in June of 1966. He served as a trained emergency medical technician for a number of years in Southwick, Mass., and Milford, N.H.

Survivors include his wife, Janet; daughter, Erin and granddaughter Kara, affectionately known as “chicken Greene” of Norway; a son, Mark of Chicopee, Mass.; his mom, Avis Greene, a brother, Sheldon Greene and a sister, Donna Huntley all of South Paris; a sister, Maureen Klopp of New Britain, Conn.; and a sister, Alice Turner of Norway.

He was predeceased by his father, Howard Greene Sr. in 2001; and a sister, Carol Ann Wing in 1989.
