DIXFIELD – The Extension Homemaker groups of Oxford County will hold the annual Holiday Open House crafts and demonstrations from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Dirigo Middle School. There will be coffee and doughnuts, hot lunch, demonstrator artist, door prizes and food table. The crafts theme is “Red, White and Blue Holiday.”
Food chain
RUMFORD – The St. Anthanasius St. John School children will form a human chain at 8:15 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, stretching from the school to the inside of the church. Canned and non-perishable items will passed from person to person along the chain and will be collected at the church. After the All Saints Day Mass the food will be carried to the area food pantry in the church basement.
Chorus visits
RUMFORD – Selected students from Mountain Valley High School Chorus traveled to Portland on Oct. 18 to participate in the Portland Choral Arts Society’s 25th anniversary concert. After a full day of rehearsal, the students, along with 300 other high school music students from around Maine, presented two works by Beethoven. The students were Robyn Parsons, Leah Mawhinney, Kristian Martineau, Amanda Violette, Danielle Desjardins, Katie Averill, Dylan Cayer and Matt Hutchins.
