WASHINGTON – A total of $106,764 from the federal government will be shared by 11 Maine-based companies through the Maine Technology Institute in Gardiner.

The seed grants will assist in furthering technological applications in seed research and harvesting in business sectors including biotechnology, forestry and agriculture, manufacturing, and aquaculture.

The following Maine-based companies were awarded funding:

• $19,300 to Maine Bio Tek Inc. of Winterport for a ISA virus vaccination commercialization plan.

• $10,000 to the River Valley Growth Council in Rumford for a pyrolysis project planning and feasibility study.

• $10,000 to Artel Inc. in Westbrook for development of an ultra-low volume liquid delivery validation system.

• $10,000 to CBE Services Inc. of Wiscasset to develop software examining market research for nutrition education.

• $9,926 to NetForms Inc. in Falmouth for a marketing study and technical development program.

• $9,700 to Harbor Technologies Inc. of Brunswick for prototyping and testing of new technology in seed cultivation.

• $9,600 to the Mahoney Marine in York Harbor to develop a business plan for the marina.

• $9,300 to the Saltwater Marketing LLC in Falmouth to improve production yield and quality of lobster catches.

• $9,200 to Mercer Motor Works in Norridgewock for the development of a beta-test and business plan.

• $7,170 to the University of Maine’s Consumer Testing Center for testing of a salmon jerky snack.

• $2,568 to Sheepscot Machine Works in Newcastle to develop an entry-level standard mix and dispense machine.
