AUBURN – Temple Shalom will offer a nine-week class on Judaism for Jews who want to re-enter Jewish education, for non-Jews who are curious or for anyone who might be thinking about conversion.
The class, “Judaism 101: A (Re)Introduction to Judaism,” will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Oct. 29 at Temple Shalom Synagogue-Center, 74 Bradman St. It will be taught by the spiritual leader of Temple Shalom, Cantor Hillel Katzir.
“Many Jewish adults still have only their pre-Bar or Bat Mitzvah Hebrew School education to give them an understanding of Judaism,” said Katzir. “This is an opportunity for them to renew their Jewish education at the adult level.
“I have also found many Christians who have become curious about Judaism as the root of their own faith,” Katzir said. “And, there may be a few non-Jews who are thinking about possibly converting to Judaism.
“Anyone who fits any of these descriptions is very welcome in the course,” Katzir concluded.
There is a fee of $25 for non-Temple Shalom members; no fee for members; and all students will be asked to buy a paperback book for the course.
Those interested are asked to call the temple office at 786-4201 to register.
