1916 – 2003

LEWISTON – Verna A. Howe Cross, 87, formerly of 109 Davis Ave., Auburn, died Saturday, Oct. 25, at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion.

Born in Lisbon, Aug. 22, 1916, the daughter of Byron L. and Harriet F. Hutchinson Howe, she lived in this community all her life.

She had been employed at the Androscoggin Mill. She was a member of SS.Peter and Paul Parish.

Survivors include two sisters, Madlyn Goodman and husband, Rudy and Louise Eversole and a brother, Robert L. Howe, all of Richmond, Va.; also Milton Ayer and his wonderful staff at Davis Avenue Group Home, Auburn; and her dear friend, Elizabeth Gordon of Readfield.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Charlotte and Alberta Howe; and three brothers, Earlon, Byron and Charles Howe.
