1931 – 2003

AUBURN – Alberta M. Hewison, 71, of Auburn, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Nov. 23, 1931, in Lewiston the daughter of Harold and Beulah Boardway. She was educated in Lewiston schools. She married Melburne Hewison in 1954. He passed away in 1981. She was a Sergeant in the Corrections Department and retired from the Androscoggin County Sheriffs Department in 1995.

She also spent time working for Civil Defense and was a crossing guard for the Auburn School Department. She raised many foster children for the State of Maine.

She attended the Sixth Street Congregational Church in Auburn. She taught others the art of ceramics for many years. She was a proud member of a Roller-skating club in her younger days, and was loved by many people and will be very missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Eilean Allen and her husband Dennis of Auburn; her sons, Bruce Hewison of Hebron, James Hewison and his wife Heidi of Hebron; her daughter-in-law, Tammy Hewison of Auburn; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Hewison, Amanda Hewison, Victoria Hewison, Ian Hewison, Maegan Hewison, Brittany Allen and Dennis Allen III; two great-grandchildren, Devyn DeCosta and Zachary Choate.
