1914 – 2003

LEWISTON – Alphee J. Lacombe, 89, of 83 Webster St., Lewiston, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, at the Russell Park Rehabilitation and Living Center, where he had been a resident since March.

Born in Lewiston on June 23, 1914, he was the son of Ferdinand and Alice Blanchette Lacombe. Educated in local schools, he was employed in the spinning room of the Bates Mill for 48 years, retiring in 1979.

On Nov. 3, 1945, he was married to the former Alice Dufresne. A devout Catholic, he was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Parish, was a former director of the Holy Name Society, served as a collector for many years and attended daily Mass.

He also helped run Bingo at St. Peter’s School and for the senior citizens at Holy Family Church. An avid bowler in his younger days, he spent much of his time at Russell Park playing cards with his fellow residents.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Alice Lacombe of Lewiston; a son, Paul and wife Claire of Lewiston; a daughter, Claire and husband David Lint of Orono; three brothers, Robert and wife Obeline of Florida, Roger of El Cajon, Calif., and Bertrand and wife Delores of Arizona; three sisters, Jeannette and husband George Doucette, Theresa Turgeon, and Florence Lacombe all of Auburn; seven grandchildren, Kathleen, Michael and wife Jennifer, and Timothy Lacombe, and Andrew, Marie, Matthew, and Kristopher Lint; and the family pet, his constant friend and visitor, Muffy.

He was predeceased by a brother, Willie Lacombe.
